You need to call the company that manages your employer's 401k.

Normally the support person is very knowledgeable about this.  However, sometimes, the person does not really know.  The form to use is called "in-service withdraw form", which is normally not available to download from their website, they need to send it to you either by mail or by email.

Do not confuse your self with "in-plan transfer form", which is NOT MegaBack door.  

Calling HR might not the best idea.
