similar situation - seller wanted rent right before closing

We already obtained loan, everything is ready to close. They agree to pay 6MN rent in cash in advance at fair market rate. We let them stayed, so far so good. They extended after 6 MN, and stayed a year now, don't know when they plan to move out. Because is is a short sell, they wanted to buy a place but difficult to get loan themselves. Maybe you can negotiate a good rental term with them. Good luck.
