老地主们，怎么对付态度强硬要求先付钱的工人？

从红地炮找了一老头和他儿子女婿刷房子，共五间屋，谈好价钱，签了合同。当时说好先刷三间，另两间等天花板换好再请他们来刷。先付定金，余数干完再付。换天花板请的是另外的工人，耽误了些时间，明天才能开工。已付了刷墙老头他们已干完的活（超过定金几倍），还剩二百五，准备三天以后活干完了付给他。他不干，说急等用钱，明天一早就得付，还得是现金。如果我不相信他拿了钱不干活的话，他会very upset, and make things messy. 听上去很恐怖。我明早去见他，是乖乖先付钱，随便他干不干，还是告警察？
