It depends on which one.  The most difficult part is accessibility.  If you can access then it's super easy.  Make sure engine bank number and location.  The one that is close to radiator is usually easy and the one that is close to firewall sometimes is very hard to reach.  Specific one is your safest bet since sometimes universal one will not clear the code.  Difference is the connector.  You reuse your old connector when you do universal one.
