It's very true that design is not the only step things can go wrong. Assembly is very important also. I heard a while ago that some Mazadas were assembled in Japan and some in US. The ones assembled in Japan have problems occurred in the same places and the ones assembled in US have problems all over the places randomly. The conclusion: Problems occurred in cars assembled in Japan are due to design and those occurred in cars assembled in US are largely due to assembly.
