The problem (maybe small, maybe big problem) is the tenant already moved back to their hometown thousands miles away. They were here finishing master degree study, and I have average relationship with them. They have good credit, but a bit shrewd. The last time I cash their cheque is in Feb 2009.
It is a cheque from Caisse Populaire Desjardins branch in my area. It is a small bank. If I got to the this small bank to certify the cheque, I think I will cause them to realize the cheque is over 6 months and cannot be good (I think cheque over 6 months is technically not good.) I want to certify because not sure if they have funds in the account.
If I pass with my bank, which it probably will take it, but then do you think the cheque will be returned by other bank for over 6 months. And also not sure if there is enough funds.
So forum readers, any suggestion and help, please? I would contact them if there is no solution to cash this cheque. Not now, if I contact them, maybe they intentionally close their bank account because I don't know them that well and that long.
Thanks
