if you only buy liability insurance, then you have to pay by your self if you want to repair it.
if you buy full coverage then just call your insurance, they will inspect the car then talk to you about what they can do. if they think the car is fixable then you just pay the deductible, they cover the rest; if they decide the car is totaled, then they will give you current market worth, which i don't think much. this is all based on the assumption that you have full coverage.
