If a car is going too fast into a turn, the friction on the tires will not turn the car and it will skid through the turn. So you brake to slow down, this prevents you from overcoming the threshold that is friction on the tires.
You accelerate coming out of the turn because as you are leaving the turn, that threshold becomes greater, and you can be at a higher acceleration and not loose friction (IE skid off the road).
So, brake and slow down before entering the curve, enter the curve without braking, acclerate to exit the curve.
You do not have to accelerate out of a turn, but you do need to slow down BEFORE entering the curve, especially for a family car. Even driving a sports car, you still need to understand it's limit.
