怎样才能开户投资股市？

我有一个Vanguard帐户，今天中午看到股市低迷时买了一些S&P500 Fund, 原以为是买的当时的价钱，现在才知道买的是明天Closing price. 好后悔啊！
我想在美国能像我以前在中国一样炒股，但不知道怎样开户，哪位姐妹能为我扫盲！
