your mechanic is not that good. thermostate can not solve the problem.
btw. he is right, there is some clog in the hose, but no need a pressure mechane for blow it out.
all you have to do is, disconnect the inlet hose from engine
and disconnect the outlet from engine.
connect the inlet hose to a water(garden) hose. use the water to blow the clog out. reconnect both hose to the engine. you should have heat. if not leak in the heat core.
