- i am also in the process learning PS.

- to remove the shadow, i would use an external flash with correct directional bouncing, then use touch-up to smooth out the surface. using a reflector is another option, u then need an assistant ;;-)

- level in PS is what i use to bright up the dark area.

PS. the groom in 4th pic is out of focus. that is one drawback when you open up the aperture ...
