I am basically a long term investor although I like to trade too. I buy at value, and sell at a profit, or hold, or buy more: I will tell you my big winners these two years and my big losers. I think my big loser will turn into big winner some day.
winners: nxg, scss, form, akam, hurc, jcom. these are all double baggers for me. NXG is a 3 bagger, still holding nxg, scss, looking forward to get back into others when value are presented.
Biggest losers: adbl, ency, dhb, faro, ostk, other than ostk, I have big confidence on the others.
ency is an easy story, its drug Europe approved, it is worth about $6 for Europe market alone assuming a normal sale case in Europe, an US approval is a bonus. One risk is the non revenue contributing US sales team eating into cash.
adbl, an dominant player on online spoken words market, almost no competitors, 2/3 of relationship with publishers are exclusive, one of the only two digital protection systems on the market, wma and adbl's tech, most of itune's books are provided by adbl, hundreds of compatible mp3 players including ipod. big business moat. new strategy on wireless download and education market could be very big. high cash reserve. risk: lots of free online material to compete with. but I believe that premium content will always have its market.
Any body interested in talking about business here, ask questions, I will try to answer.
