Human Resources (PXT): According to reports from October 2025, Amazon is planning to cut up to 15% of its Human Resources staff. The HR roles, which include recruitment, technology staff, and other traditional HR tasks, are being streamlined with the help of AI.
Software Development and Coding: Jassy has noted that AI tools will reduce the need for certain types of coding work, particularly tasks that are routine or boilerplate. While AI won't eliminate all coding jobs, it will reshape the roles of developers at Amazon and other tech companies.
Customer Service: Some customer service and support positions are at high risk, as AI tools can handle many customer interactions more efficiently.
Middle Management: As AI enables flatter organizational structures and faster decision-making, Amazon has already eliminated a significant number of manager-level roles.
Administrative Roles: Jobs involving routine reporting, communications, and other administrative support are vulnerable to automation.
