MIT '26 admitted 176 of 9488 defer (1.85%) vs. RD rate 2.44%

So the deferred students have roughly 2/3 of chance as RD students to be admitted.

Not bad.

But MIT admitted 0 from the 763 WL'ed this year.

Deferral still has pretty decent chance.  WL is basically a dead end for MIT application.
