where do you work?

if you work in the city, traffic is a problem. unless you take the train, if you drive to flushing to take subway, in peak hour traffic, you may add 45mins one way. if you take train, you need to follow train schedule- lack of flexibility.

kid is not a problem. most likely the reason for him to be slow in speaking is bilingual.

when you move there, he may pick up English quickly. you can make friends with other parents there.
