I had my doubts about him, but turns out, Captain Tanaka really was a romantic after all. Ken Watanabe has been a favorite of mine for years, he always plays such interesting characters.

The German consul is Wolf Kahler, the guy central casting sends over when they need somebody who looks good in a Nazi uniform. You might recognize him as the German general who requests permission to address his troops in Band Of Brothers.

Excellent movie. Right on and quite accurate. It was hell living through that time and all I have to say is more people not Caucasian should have been saved.
