消费者 do not want to give up cars - take public transport

like the Northeasterns do, then the oil consumption would drop, and pollution too.

But, the Californians wouldn't do that - they want the best of both worlds - driving everywhere, yet "dont drill at our own backyard" - go pollute TX, LA, AL, etc all those Gulf States that open for offshore drilling.

They are eyeing Florida too.
