My suggestions - look for discount codes and try all companies

1) Do you must have 4-wheel drive? If you must, you can still check each rental car company's van models to see if they have 4-wheel drive van - dont just assume there is none. Call all majors, Budget, Dollar, National, Thrifty, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo. Personally I dont like to do business with Almo. All others are OK.
You also want to make sure 6 passengers are OK for a full size SUV. In some parts of the country, you may violate traffic laws to have 6 passengers in a car that isn't designed for 6.

2) Look up discount codes of all rental car companies and then go to their sites to try each code - you may be surprised to find some codes work wonders like throwing out 20 - 25% off.

You can google such codes, or go to Fatwallet.com and do a search - under the Travel forum, there is a thread that has continuous update of various discount codes for major companies.
You can also go to Flyertalk.com and look up each rental car's forum, there usually is a Sticky thread about current discount codes.

I have used the following codes which worked well - you may want to just plug them in to see if they would work for your SUV rental

Budget BCD X201400, W852802, W116168, U072400 & 405

Hertz CDP 706900, 000014

Avis CWD A074800, 01 to 04, L005927, D005297

Dollar PC5005, BJ5013, 3010, 3014

It takes time to try them - there is no telling which one would work. Just try them one by one on each company's reservation page using identical booking criteria. Take down the results so you can compare. I usually have an XCEL spreadsheet on one side to input the results...

3) Do you must have all participants be the additional drivers? I am not even sure the rental car company would let you have 5 additional drivers. Can your group destinate 3 drivers and you have only $20 a day (only 2 additionals) to share among all 6 participants?
