从前，有一个善良的人，叫奥利弗.哥尔德斯密。他写了许多有趣的书，他心地善良，总是
准备帮助他人，并且让别人分享他所有的一切东西。他给穷人的东西太多了，以至于他自己总是过
着穷日子。因为他学过医，做过医生，所以人们有时称他哥尔德斯密医生。
一天，一个穷苦的妇女来请哥尔德斯密医生去看一看他丈夫。他丈夫生病了，不能吃东西。
哥尔德斯密去了，他发现这家人极度贫穷，男人已经失业很久了，他不是生病，而是忧愁。至于吃
的，家里一点也没有。
" 今晚到我家来，" 哥尔德斯密对这个妇女说， " 我给你丈夫一些药。"
晚上，这个妇女来了。哥尔德斯密给了她一个沉甸甸的小紙盒。
" 这是药，" 他说，" 仔细服用吧，我想，这对你丈夫一定很有用。但到家后才能把紙盒打开。"
" 有服用说明吗？" 那妇女问道。
" 你会在盒子里找到的。" 他说。
这个妇女回到家里以后，坐在他丈夫身边，他们一起打开了盒子。你猜，他们发现里面是
什么呢？满满一盒钱，上边有一个说明 : 需要时就使用

哥尔德斯密把自己现有的全部的钱都给了他们。
Here was once a kind man whose name was Oliver Goldsmith . He wrote many delightful
books . He had a gentle heart . He was always ready to help others and to share with them
anything that he had. He gave away so much to the poor that he was always poor himself.
He was sometimes called Doctor Goldsmith; for he had studied to be a physician.
One day a poor woman asked Doctor Goldsmith to go and see her hu*****and, who was
sick and could not eat. Goldsmith did so. He found that the family was in great need. The man
had not had work for a long time. He was not sick, but in distress, and as for eating there was
no food in the house.
"Call at my room this evening," said Goldsmith to the woman, "and I will give you some
medicine for your hu*****and."
In the evening the woman called. Goldsmith gave her a little paper box that was very heavy.
"Here is the medicine," he said. "Use it faithfully, and I think it will do your hu*****and a great
deal of good. But don't open the box until you reach home."
"What are the directions for taking it?" asked the woman.
"You will find them inside of the box." he answered.
When the woman reached her home, she sat down by her hu*****and's side, and they opened
the box. What do you think they found in it?
It was full of pieces of money. And on the top were the directions ~~~
TO BE TAKEN AS OFTEN AS NECESSITY REQUIRES.
Goldsmith had given them all the ready money that he had.
