Thanks zyxlady. :) When we visited Paris years ago, we literally

in museums, so as you said, outdoor weather wouldn't have mattered too much. This time around, however, we are traveling with a little one, who might enjoy the outdoors more than the museums. Our plan is to get the museum pass, so that we can get unlimited entries into the museums, which would help if our little one doesn't want to spend the entire day indoors. We are planning to do more walking around the city and strolling in the parks this time, so outdoor weather matters a bit more. Certainly we need to get the right kind of shoes, wakling around with wet feet would be a disaster. :-) Unfortunately rain gears tend to be heavy and bulky. O'well.
