just curious?

How come Canon is still the biggest camera industry leader in the world? I remember it occupies more than 60% (Nikon is around 29%?) of the market if I didn’t make mistake.
I am so confused why people would like to go with the poor quality stuff. Can any one explain the reason as I am a 'vege. bird' in this area?
