I think Longnian's translation makes good sense.
It's a famous quote by "zheng banqiao", means sometimes unawareness and ignorance of some facts could be relief and luck. For example, I always advise my father to refrain from making inquiry about the prices of the commodities my mother bought so as to avoid any disputes because the high price might upset my dad.

Ignorance is bliss -----it virtually has conveyed the idea that 难得糊涂wants to tell.

难得 = it is inconceivably hard to be / have

糊涂 = dumb, dopey, fool, ignorant
