Etymology
A jocular play on the phrase beauty is in the eye of the beholder. First use appears c. 1972, although the exact date of its first appearance and its author are uncertain.

I came across this funny proverb this morning and couldn't believe my eyes, as it is not only funny on its own account, there is even a study done by five scholars in 2013 and published in "British Journal of Psychology", with title as: ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder’: People who think they are drunk also think they are attractive.

I can smell and sip just a tiny bit of wine to tell the taste (and if they are too “young” in wine age), but I can't drink alcohol, as even a small amount will put me into dizziness. So my alcohol drink is <10% of wine or beer mixed up with > 90% of pure fruit juice, and I never had chance to get drunk.
While I don't know the view of beauty when in drunk state myself, I did see people talk about their life stories loudly, repeatedly, and non-stop after a few drinks（酒后见真情;-), as happened in our street summer BBQ party each year. So much so and year after year that I think I could write most of our neighbours' family books for them (btw most of them are 10 or more years older than me).
