How did Mao Zedong solve the opium addiction problem after taking over?

The drug rehabilitation centers during the Mao era were very educational. It worked well and effectively. It was essentially the same as group therapy. It is amazing how Mao and his carders come up with the idea of rehabilitation centers that takes western experts so long to develop group therapy.
