What could I give to you, my friends? A green forest, a lushy prairie, a merrily flowing stream, a brilliant rainbow, or a blue sky, or all the above? No, no, I can't, my dear. All I have is a throbbing heart and a bright smile. Could I give that to you?
Happy Chinese New Year, my friends in MYSJ! Thank you all for your encouragement and company in the past year!
Here is Yang Yang's English translation of the lyrics. Thank you Yang Yang for your beautiful work! Happy Chinese New Year!
For You
By LYJiang
May I bring you something?
Say, forests and vales?
May I bring you something?
Say, birds on the wing?
May I bring you all the above?
May I bring you all the above?
Might be dawn and dew as well?
May I bring you something?
Say, green grasses and clouds?
May I bring you something?
Say, well-built horses with their hooves off the ground?
May I bring you all the above?
May I bring you all the above?
Might be throbbing hearts as well?
May I bring you something?
Say, a smize?
May I bring you all the above?
May I bring you all the above?
Might be dawn and dew as well?
Might be throbbing hearts as well?
Might be closely held hands as well?
And a short essay written a while ago, if the above is not enough. :)
Front Window
-- Sweetbug
Every morning after I get up, the first thing I do is to walk over to the front window in the living room. I open the curtain, then stand behind it looking into the front yard.
When it's sunny, the morning warm sun lights dapple through the tall trees and bushes. The yard is bathed in the warm sun. The leaves and flowers of the plants are shining with joy. The shadows cast by the tall bushes are cool and clear. I love sunny days. Sunshine almost always makes me smile.
Often it's foggy in the morning, especially in summer. When it's foggy, it's kind of relaxing. I think the plants might feel the same way. They look softened and laid back. Farther in the distance, eveything is in soft misty gray.
In winter, it rains sometimes in the morning. How exciting! I would stand there watching the rain for a long time, listening to the sound the raindrops hitting the roof and the ground. The plants are just as thrilled as I am. They seem to open every one of their thirsty cell to take in as much the so scarced rainfall as they can. The rain washs off the dusts on the leaves and flowers. They look so clean and refreshed. Some of the raindrops on the leaves roll back and forth for a little bit, and eventully roll off the leaves and fall on to the gound. The dusty ground is as thirsty as it could be, eagerly absorb every drop of the rain.
Sometimes, I imagine you stand behind me and enfold me in your arms lovingly. You rest your chin on the top of my head and we stand there watching the beautiful morning scenery.
