As I understand, "Ms" can be used for single and married woman. "Mrs" confirms one's marital status, which is a little less preferred nowadays.
Here's what Wiktionary says:

Ms or Ms. (plural Mss. or Mss or Mses.)
Noun

  1. A title used before an adult female's name or surname instead of Miss or Mrs.

Mrs (plural Mmes)
Abbreviation

  1. A title used before an adult female's name or surname. Usually used with the married surname.

My goodness, dear old Mr. Diver, I had thought it was a typo. -小钊- 给 小钊 发送悄悄话 (0 bytes) () 04/27/2013 postreply 14:58:55
