After Roger’s death, I listened to a few audio clips about him on NPR and read several of his movie reviews, including his review of Take this Waltz. I really admire his fighting spirit, and his courageous openness and sense of humor about his cancer, suffering, and facial disfiguration.

Sis, a great essay! I share your sentiment of melancholy and nostalgia.
