It seems to me the environmental problems in China are mostly due to rapid development without sufficient regulation and monitoring.

Imagine the situation in which Globalization does not happen for the trade of consumer products. China will still grow exponentially with newly imported technologies by supplying the domestic market. Most likely, polution will still happen simply because environment protection is not a priority compared with development.

Does this make sense?
