On my Way to Georgetown

A sonorous quietness,

That's how I feel on my way

Cruising to Georgetown.

Silence and peace are with me;

And roaring gusts whip

On the windows of my Mustang.

A sudden emptiness

Creeps into my heart,

Sweet memories bear me down.

You leaned on my shoulder

In a night train chugging homebound,

Knitting a sweater of caramel brown.

Now I feel your warmth no more,

Only your gaze from eternity at me,

Cruising along to Georgetown.
