MANY SHADOWS



Doors 
             &
                 shadows

One divides
                            space
and
            light

One measures
                        
        the length

               of memory

Darkness
                    &
                         glow

on either side 

Present
                &
                    past

meet at your heels

Doors shut out

              the light, but

shadows travel

            through walls
      &
            forgetfukness

Many shadows

            come 
       &

            go

through the doors

                   of memory
. . . .

         Youth

            wanders out

               into a clear night

                         Shadows grow

                                 longer than day

Childhood, a door

              made of tears

                       and laughter

at each end

            of a forgetful

shadow

         lengthens

                the doorway
