It's such a thought-provoking essay on an artistic movie on such a difficult topic. Thank you for the wonderful writing and I want to see the movie now.

This reminds me of a novel (later became a major motion picture too) that was recommended to me by NewVoice Sis in this forum. The novel is One True Thing by Anna Quindlen. Similar to Amour, the mom in the novel was dignosed with cancer. Different from Amour, the story is told from the daughter's perspective, who was summoned by the father to take care of her mom, putting her journalist career on hold. The mom died and the autopsy revealed that there was a morphine overdose. Therefore the caregiver, the daughter, was arrested because of the fatal overdose. But she suspected it was the father who did it. You don't find out until the very end who killed the mom. There was also discussion about who has the right to end the mom's life, does love entitle people the right to kill?
