我家老三: Reader (= associate professor)

今次家庭聚会叫老三说，他最近又进了一级（Reader (= associate professor)，他说这和其他大学有些一同，不同的地方是什么？

上网查了一下，

准教授与副教授的区别在于职称等级不同、地域和体系差异以及在某些体系中准教授可能指代的是“待位教授”或“读者”，而副教授是通用的职称。副教授在中国是高级职称中的一部分，而在英国的体系中，准教授（Reader）比副教授（Associate Professor）的层级更高，更接近于教授职称。?
