求教：高中数学的AB、BC两个track啥区别？计算GPA时各自的权重是多少？

谁能解释一下高中数学的AB、BC两个track到底啥区别？选BC申请大学时更有优势吗？
我家孩子选了BC，感觉就是多学了很多考完注定会忘掉的知识点，属于数学发展史上被抛弃的一些概念和技巧。
糟糕的是他老师超级懒惰，根本不讲课，让孩子们自行struggle。
下学年想换回AB，但又怕影响以后的大学申请，关键是孩子以后想学工程。
