I am now EB2, 485 pending. I work for one consulting firm on EAD. Now I found other contracts that I can only do as individual contractor due to the hourly fee range. With my consulting firm, I will be on bench and they will force me to to use vacation.

Can I take leave of absence and work as independent consultant for a while and then go back to current job when there is project available? Will it hurt my EB2? Will my current sue me for things?
