申请博士后，台湾老板真的这么坏么？

最近申请博士后，一个台湾老板感冒我的申请。
要我的推荐信，还要我现在老板的推荐信。
但今天，一个推荐人告诉我，他朋友是该实验室的，朋友告诉他，该台湾老板最近根本没有雇博士后的计划。
没有职位，还要我的推荐信干什么？
