adjusting status

My boyfriend and I plan to get married in the US before we move back to China. I'm a US citizen and he has H1. My question is where we shall file for adjusting his status from working applicant to spouse of US citizen. If we file in the US, how many days in a year does he needs to stay in the US before he gets green card?
