Urgent help

I was charged with a misdeminor because I broke a monitor accidently when I was arguing with my friend. She called the police. It is possible I could get a diversion, which is not a criminal program, because I have already made restitution for the university and they do not have claim to me. Does anyone know how big the effect could be if I apply green card now?
