1. Once u get 485 approval and got the approval paper, u can make appointment with local immigration office to get your passport stamped. 485 approval paper has detailed info. of what needed to be done. U need to prepare photos for this appointment as well, etc.
With the stamped passport, u can travel back to USA. It's temporary Green card. It's valid for 1 year only.
2. Then u will get the formal GC within about a month time (this is our case). It's valid for 5 year I remember. U can travel back to USA with it.
3. As to your child, as long as both u and your hu*****and still have China passport, u can apply for travel document for him at Chinese embassy. There are two kinds. One for 1 entry, valid for 1 year. The other for multiple entries in two years. Check Chinese embassy website for details.
4. U also need to apply for US passport for your child. This way, when they enter China and leave Chinese, use the travel document. When entering USA, use US passport. US passport is needed when entering China as well.
