Help for repair 2.5' hard drive!

I got this HD from my friend, who told me that was died.
The infor of this HD:
Name: HITACHI 30GB 4200RPM
Model: IC25N030ATMR04-0

In fact, I wanta format it and re-partition, since I boot up computer by using WIn98se Boot disk, I can see there are 3 partitions in this HD, into the CMOS to delete them all, but won't allow me to re-partition, after reboot computer, the 3 partitions still there.even I use DOS 6.22.

Hook up to computer like slave HD, I can see it in win2k but can not do anything for it.

Any help will be appreciated!
