When screen goes blank, press CapsLock over and over, if system still running, the corresponding LED should be on and off. If so, your LCD screen or video card is dead. Connect an external monitor to the VGA port, press and hold Fn then press F3 or F, check your manual to make sure, to turn on the external monitor. Wait and see, if external monitor goes blank with the LCD, the video card is dead.
