向前老板要推荐信，请大家支招

与前老板有些矛盾，未激化，layoff我时还算客客气气。现在找工作，想让他出给我一封general的推荐信，我随身可以带着的那种。但他说他必须知道我求职的公司是否是他的竞争对手。问题在于要给我offer的公司恰恰就是竞争对手，所以我不可能报给他公司名字，但不给名字就没有推荐信。就算给个假公司名字，信也会直接寄到该公司。而且他弄不好会先打电话核实。其实我要这封推荐信也是作为不时之需，万一将来什么场合用得上。如果最终要不到也就算了，但就是觉得给他工作了这么多年要封推荐信还这么卡我挺来气的。
