I was born in Xiamen and grew up in 石尾 until 10 years old with my parents (xia fang) and then back to xiamen. reading your post always reminds me so much of my childhood and all those delicious food.
But today I can't believe you actually mentioned 石尾红蟳. My heart rate just shot up to the roof. I am fighting back my tears. you are making me very very homesick.
but I am sorry to tell you that 石尾红蟳 no longer taste the same now. A few years ago, I went back to Xiamen, some friends brought some for me. it is totally different now. It is farm raised. gone the delicious food and those great childhood memory!
