books like Dr. Seuss or those learn to read series-basic phonics

My son is in kindergarten and books teacher gave them to read are like "I do read" series. It is more like Dr. Seuss books. For their reading, they used phonic skill they learned to sight read those words. From the begining, I don't think my son knows the word or remember the words, he just sight read them. So use those books, they are simple and repeat many time in one story to let little one practice more so they finally remember the words. Unless your D's reading skill is good enough, the reading book and story book should be different. For the night bed story I still read for my son.
