my son's track is like this, he is 8th grader now

七年级: Algebra I
八年级: Geometry
九年级: Algebra II
十年级: Pre Cal
十一年级: Cal (AP),
十二年级: ??

we are thinking let him study Algebra II during the summer so in 九年级 he can start with Pre Cal. If he just learn it himself over books/CD, can we take a placement test to skip it in 九年级? How about the GPA? How do they calculate the GPA for Algebra II then?

I actually don't mind his progress in math, but he said he wants to catch up with one of his best friend who will start to take pre-cal in September.:((
