So many lessons for parents.

1) If a child missed something you could give earlier, there is almost no way you can give to her/him later. Most of time, you feel like you owe the kid something, and you want to pay it with high interest, but debt is not love, and you end up spoiling the kid, and the kid has no sense of appreciation.

2) The last paragraph, the parent blames the kid, and blame that "tradtional culture was gone", but never really admit what a poor job he had done to the kid.
