The book was first published in English translated from the Chinese manu. When the Chinese edition was published, the book was translated from its English edition. Strange! Why not just publish from its original Chinese version.
Andrew Nathan 黎安友 is a anti Mao China scholar from Columbia Univ. who wrote a very critical review called Jade and Plastic, on Chang Jung's Mao book. This book review was published in a scholarly quarterly, the name of which just escape me this time.
