I think you spoke well the reasons you don't want to teach the new hire, such as it slows down your own work and, more importantly, you were not asked to do it by your boss. So you already answered your own question.

What may have frustrated some of us here is that you seem don't understand some basic work relationship, esp. that with your boss. You work for your boss and it is up to the person to decide if or where to use your name. You don't seem to have much respect for your boss and may have always noticably tried to by-pass the person in order to reach a higher level. This kind of behavior would piss off any boss. Unless you change your attitude, no matter where you go you will always run into same kind of problems. This is most hated behavior in work place. You may need to count your blessings since your boss could have been treating your worse or letting you go a long time ago. I hope my hush word make you stop and look at the situation a bit differently. Good luck
