I am suprised too why such a little boy thinks that way.

You should tell him right away at that time that it is not true and gave him a big hug.

You also shoud tell his parents that they should watch our thier own behavior and what they or others say to the little boy.

Give a kid a possive feeling is very important. Always try to tell a little kid that s/he is lovely, cute and beuatiful. Tell kids that we, especailly parents love them all the time no matter what.
