When I first arrived in USA 17 years ago, I worked part-time at a furniture store. The store owner is a 70 year old nice man, he told me the secret to be successful in sales is "to look into the customer's eyes and tell a lie". And I watched him do that in the store. On the other hand, he was extremely kind, helping me in many ways, and he and his brother took turns to pick me up and send me home because he thought the street was not safe to walk. I had my first Thanksgiving diner at his home, and he had to drive more than a hour to pick me up and send me home.
