H1B extension question

My first three year H1B extension will expire on Oct. 31, 2007. My lawyer
will help me to extend my H1B.

My question is:

I do not need to use H1B premium processing, right? I heard that for H1B
extension, if I receive the receipt, I can still work, althogh it is
possible that my H1B extension will be approved after Oct. 31, right?

My wife H4 will also be valid if my H1b is approved after Oct. 31, right?
